More than Thought is a scholarly electronic literary journal that explores manifestations of the development of human consciousness in the literatures.

Dearest Readers of More than Thought,

It is with regret that I announce that our journal will be going on a publication hiatus. Our current hosting service, Microsoft's Live Small Business, is being discontinued and the site will be dismantled (erased) in the next couple of months.

I have researched other hosting possibilities and online publication options, but have not found a satisfactory long-term solution that can assure us that this will not happen again. After resolving this hosting issue we will return and our information as listed in the various databases (e.g., Project Muse and MLA International Bibliography) will be updated to indicate our new location. All articles for previous issues are in the process of being uploaded to Project Muse where they will continue being available in perpetuity.

We at More than Thought are disappointed in this publishing hiatus and look forward to returning with an improved solution in the next year. Unfortunately, when innovative projects, like this one, come to fruition there are often challenges and changes along the way. I am acutely aware that all problems are always only ever in one’s thinking and I look forward to bringing the journal back online. Please feel free to send comments or questions through the “Contact Us” page until the site is removed.

Best regards,

More than Thought

More than Thought is a scholarly electronic literary journal that seeks criticism and literature that explores the development of human consciousness. We aspire to promote discussion and provoke changes that facilitate the spread of an integrated understanding of human consciousness and its manifestations in literature. The growth of human consciousness is a process of unfolding that reflects confronting and surpassing limits. This transformation can be analyzed through a myriad of lenses that allow ample possibility and inclusion for those who wish to discover more about the development of consciousness and its manifestations in literature. Whether it be the psychological interpretation of a character, an ideological consistency that reflects an author’s emerging worldview that challenges the norms or a philosophical debate that represents an advancing viewpoint, we find that all literature represents a level of consciousness, even if only that of the author.
